Another minor release to fix MangaFox and reading some mangas on OneManga.
I am also removing MangaVolume temporarily.
I will keep making these minor releases until the next major release. I am currently re-designing Manga reader to be more flexible. this will allow me to make these updates without having to release a new version. I think there will also be a new website/domain, etc. Stay Tuned

Woo..mangafox’s all section got fixed…seems to take quite a while to detect all the manga though (This may be due to opening 4127 thumbnails at once?). Also the ability to like add folders would be great, insted of compressed folders. I also noticed any extension in caps wouldn’t load (such as .JPG)
Sorry for the double comment but i just noticed the search funcion still doesn’t work too well in the MangaFox “All” section, it works…but for instance…if you look for(in this case for the manga Katekyo Hitman Reborn!) “hitman” it won’t appear, though if you look for it in action, it’s there.
Ugh triple comment, after updating mangareader the settings don’t seem to stick >_>
@Shadowajohn,
The search function works on my machine, so I am not sure.
For Manga fox, it is slow right now because of the large number of mangas. There is a way to load the list faster, but that will come after the redesign. Also, persistant settings after updates will probably come after the next major release.
Ah great, for the search function thing it was just on a couple of mangas. One last thing i’ve noticed..since the most recent update MangaReader has been crashing…not all the time…just sometimes about a min after i start up…might be me…might be vista, anyways heres what it is…not sure if you can get anything from it though >_> Description:

Hmm… Still a big bug. i wanted to read a cbr file, but it didnt work. So i decompressed it an recreated it with manga creator. It just said “not enough memory” at the end, so i ended manga creator. And now, i cant even kill firefox and manga creator processes in the task manager. MC is consuming 500mb RAM right now
Just to let you know there are a couple of manga’s on manga fox that don’t seem to work with Manga Reader, but I can get them on the site.
I know one is Onegai Teacher, but can’t remember the others. Is there anyway to see the error message it gives, like stack trace, to see if it is problem with manga fox or the manga reader? I am so spoiled by Manga Reader now that I don’t want to read manga unless it is physical book or in Manga Reader.
Thanks
@ Shadowajohn,
Yeah, that not very helpful. The crash most likely occurs in the online manga explorer window. I am currently rebuilding it from scratch, and it should be more stable in the next release in a few months.
yeh…the mangafox thing doesn’t seem to work to well…several mangas not even loading..yet you can view them on the site.
is there any way to install the wordpress manga reader without any internet connection?please reply anyone,it will be of great help,thanks!
@nael
Yes, you can install manga reader without internet connection. To do so, you need to have the .NET Framework 3.5 installed on the machine. Look on microsoft’s website for a download link.
You may also want to download the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1. It’s not required for the current version of Manga Reader, but will be required for version 2.0.
Me again >_> is there any set date for when the next version is coming out? also i’ve noticed that some pages in mangafox can not be read, is this because of a different file format? or something?
I am not trying to rush you, but I would really love to use your manga reader instead of cdisplay since cdisplay can only remember 10 bookmarks. I miss comix and qcomicbook from linux, and nothing has been able to replace them, though your effort is definitely getting there. Please put the bookmark feature at the top of your list for priorities. I am sure it will have a lot of support. Also have it where I can have at least 25 bookmarks. Thanks and great job on this program.
@ Shadowajohn,
There is no set date for when the next version will be out. I am still working on it, and will announce details when it’s almost done. I will looking into the mangafox problem and maybe release a minor update to fix that.
Regarding the request for bookmarks, I am already working on it. It will be included in the next major release (v2.0).
That sounds great. Thanks. Can’t wait to switch over from CDisplay. Please no limits, or at least no limit under 20 for bookmarks.
Hey,
I really liek your mangareader and wish to use it instead of CDIsplay but for some reason, its not loading decompressed files..or my images with extensions .JPG or .png…if possible in new release, can you make MangaReader able to read a folder of image files at a time?
@Selena,
Manga Reader does not support reading images from a folder. only MGA , WMGA and archives (zip, rar, tar) are supported. The major release (v2.0) will have that ability.
i don’t know if this is happened with others,
but i think i found a bug.
when you change a page of previous manga in the same time with the timing when the loading finished, the program will exit by itself.
btw thx for the program
Really looking forward to a new release and in regards to that I have a question in regards to the Zoomed Panning feature. Is it always going to show so much of the grey background? The reason I’m asking is that since I zoom quite a lot on the pages (reading on a 32″ tv pretty far from the sofa with only the keyboard). I love the feature, it really has made reading manga a LOT more enjoyable but there are so much of the background present that there are way to many “unread” spots in the display.
Any thoughts into releasing an x64 version? Just curios.
Also any new updates? or still have a wait?
Any chance you’ll add Full Screen support?
Sorry for spam, but what I meant to write was “True Full Screen”, as in only seeing the manga and no “tools” or icons.
Also, will there be a more in-depth settings dialogue to tweak the experience a bit more to suit me?
As a reference I use MMCE_Win32. Bloody brilliant program, and this one’s getting surprisingly close to topping it.
wow…Full screen support will be cool
Thanks!! manga reader is realy great.. it`s amazing!! truly..
Excellent program. I’ve been trying to read Gantz on it and unfortunately can’t….
Could I request another online website be added? website structure is very simple. I’ts just way way too much work to go through every single issue of every single manga I’m interested in and manually link every image.
The site is http://www.mangarooter.net It’s used by some sites so they don’t need to host their own manga.
Visiting that page returns all of the directories for the various mangas,
Link format to the images is:
http://www.mangarooter.net/manga name/manga episode/numbered.jpg
eg for gantz:
http://www.mangarooter.net/Gantz/Gantz_001/image.jpg
As websites go it is probably easier to add than most. Though I lack the skills to do it myself
Anyway thanks for an AMAZING program. I’m extremely grateful. When I finish reading Gantz I’ll be using your program around the clock!
Dude, when’re u gonna fix that bug that wipes files if you drag an archive in which MR doesn’t find stuff and then a proper one (poof… previous file deleted) ?
@Ian,
I will consider adding that source in the next version.
